Investment OpportunitiesCounty of Barrhead is looking at Hemp to anchor an agribusiness cluster, as well as other agribusiness opportunities to locate on the Kiel Industrial Park. The Barrhead area is very complimentary to growing hemp.
County of Barrhead has three companies actively expanding into the hemp space, as well as additional entrepreneurs researching alternative fiber uses. Current activities are focused on processing for food and vitamin supplements, farm and pet feed products manufactured and sold, as well as a decorticator and an incubator for future hemp start up and those working towards commercialization. Our producers have been working to provide contracted acres to the companies in question on an as needed basis.

The AHA is a non-profit association of stakeholders collaborating to create a strong, competitive, and diversified hemp industry in Alberta. They focus on Alberta-specific resources to facilitate market development and provide provincial networking, tools, and resources.
