New Swimming Pool Plebiscite
PUBLIC INFORMATION MEETINGS
The Council of the County of Barrhead No. 11 is holding a plebiscite on March 24, 2014 for the Electors of the County of Barrhead No. 11 to vote on the question: Are you in favor of the County of Barrhead No. 11 borrowing a maximum of $5 Million dollars for the purpose of provinding a maximum $5 Million dollar contribution to the Town of Barrhead for the Town's construction of a new swimming pool?
To provide information and have discussions with residents prior to the voting day, the Council has scheduled 3 Public Information Meetings, as follows:
- Dunstable School on March 6 from 7 pm to 9 pm
- Summerdale Hall on March 10 from 7 pm to 9 pm
- Mellowdale Hall on March 14 from 7 pm to 9 pm
Information to be provided to residents will include:
- Details on the March 24th Vote of the Electors and the March 19th Advance Voting
- The most recent aquatic centre concept being considered by the Town of Barrhead. (A representative of BarrRyder Architects & Interior Designers will be available for discussion after the formal presentation)
- The financial implications of the borrowing, including how the future tax levies of landowners in the County of Barrhead could be affected. Using the interest rate as of February 17, 2014, the increase in a landowner's tax levy would be approximately $40.00 for each $100,000 in Property Assessment each year, for 20 years.
To assist you in determining how this may affect you, please refer to your 2013 'Combined Assessment and Property Tax Notice' to find your Property Assessment used for taxation purposes in year 2013.

Plebiscite - Vote on a Question - March 24, 2014 - RE: New Swimming Pool
The County of Barrhead will be holding a Vote of the Electors on the following:
Are you in favor of the County of Barrhead No. 11 borrowing a maximum of $5 Million Dollars for the purpose of providing a maximum $5 Million Dollar contribution to the Town of Barrhead for the Town's construction of a new swimming pool?
Voting will take place on the 24th day of March, A.D. 2014 between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Voting stations will be located at:
- Dunstable School
- Tiger Lily Hall
- Neerlandia Christian Reformed Church Fellowship Hall
- County Office Administration Building
Note: Persons who are eligible to vote in the March 24, 2014 Plebiscite may vote at any one of the voting stations.
Advance Voting will take place on Wednesday, the 19th Day of March, A.D., 2014 between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. The Advance Voting Station will be located at: County Office Administration Building, 5306 49 Street, Barrhead, Alberta.
Anyone who is eligible to vote in the March 24, 2014 Plebiscite may Vote at the March 19, 2014 Advance Vote.
REQUIREMENTS FOR VOTER IDENTIFICATION
In order to vote, you must produce identification for inspection. The identification must be one or more of:
A. Photo identification with name and address that is issued by a Canadian Government (federal, provincial, local or an agency thereof) - Examples: Operators/Drivers License, Government Photo Identification, OR;
B. Identification authorized by the Chief Electoral Officer under the Election Act with name and address, including:
- Bank/Credit Card Statement or Personal Cheque
- Income/Property Tax Assessment Notice
- Utility Bill
- Government Cheque or Cheque Stub
- Insurance Policy or Coverage Card
- Vehicle Ownership or Insurance Certificate
as required by Section 53 of the Local Authorities Election Act or local bylaw.
